The Game Menu (Q menu, commonly referred to as the Spawn Menu) is a feature that has a big role in Garry's Mod.
What is it?
The game menu can be opened by holding Q. If it wasn't for the game menu you wouldn't be able to do much in Garry's Mod, besides shooting people like your friends or walking around.

It allows you to spawn objects in several categories.
